Employers who want to hire foreigners must advertise for locals first, says minister

Human Resources Minister M. Saravanan says applications for foreign workers or expatriates will only be considered if no Malaysians are interested in applying for the position. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, October 26, 2020.

EFFECTIVE November 1, employers who wish to hire foreign workers through rehiring programmes as well recruit expatriates are required to first advertise the vacancies on national employment portal MYFutureJobs. Human Resources Minister M. Saravanan said the advertisements on MYFutureJobs should not run less than 14 days for the rehiring programme of foreign workers in the country and 30 days for the application of expatriates.
