Elderly woman loses RM18,000 to friend she met online

A 63-year-old woman was cheated of RM18,000 when she tried to help a friend purportedly detained by the Immigration Department.

Pahang Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Mohd Wazir Yusof said the suspect, said to be a businessman in London, had travelled to Malaysia to meet the woman, whom he had befriended last month on a social media network.
