PETALING JAYA: 2,683 teachers appointed in June 2020 on a contract of service (COS) will have their contracts renewed, says the Education Minister.

Speaking at a press conference after the groundbreaking ceremony at SK Putrajaya Presint 8 on Saturday , Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin said this was confirmed after the ministry had received verification from the Education Services Commission on Friday .

“This is consistent with my previous statement that the Education Ministry will do its best in finding the best solution for teachers appointed under the CoS,” he said, adding that the said teachers' contracts were slated to end on June 9 this year.Earlier this month, Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin said the issue of these teachers would be given due attention and resolved immediately.

He said the fate of 2,600 COS teachers appointed in the June 2020 intake would be resolved when their contracts are expected to be extended for two years. On a separate matter, he added that candidates who attended interviews for the one-off recruitment of Education Service Officers under Grade DG41 in 2021 could view their results beginning yesterday .Article type: free

Loke: New highways, rail lines alone not enough to ease traffic congestionEx-minister says collaboration between multiple ministries needed to address issue. Obviously highway can only partially be utilised to ease the congestion most of the time. A wholistic solution includes other aspects of commuting pattern. Review transport policy lah. Too many pte cars on the road especially in the city. Incentivise use of public transport. Of course it must be made upgraded to ensure safe and sustainable infrastructure. Baru orang motivated to use public transport. Bring the best minds lead this. Tragedy of the commons is the best description for this situation. ;)
