PUTRAJAYA: The Election Commission's office in Sarawak has been closed until August 2 after one of its staff was found to be positive for Covid-19.

EC secretary Ikmalrudin Ishak said the closure was as according to the standard operating procedure issued by the Health Ministry.

He said all staff who came into close contact with their infected colleague have been ordered to undergo swab test."The operations of the state EC office will be closed until the quarantine period ends. "This is because there will be no staff on duty throughout the quarantine period," he said in a statement on Thursday .

Ikmalrudin said the office premises and its surrounding has been cleaned and disinfected to prevent the spreading of the Covid-19 virus. All matters and enquiries such as voter registration, checks on electoral roll can be done through these channels:
