JOHOR BARU, May 28 —The federal government must find its political will to make driving private cars a luxury instead of a necessity, Opposition lawmaker Liew Chin Tong said today.
"Research has shown that each time petrol prices go up in Malaysia, the number of road deaths increases," he said in a statement. "There is a direct correlation between petrol hike and the number of people switching to motorcycles, and thus the number of road deaths and accidents," he said, without providing statistics to back his argument."Each time global petrol prices hike to US$100 per barrel, there will be a panic call to reduce subsidy bills.
He also backed DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook who yesterday urged the government to resolve Malaysia's traffic congestion, specifically in city centres.
see the public transport in johor first la.....
As always. Opposition seems like They're better. But Malaysian knew n knows that The LiesFake Manifesto last GE was total Scamed to Malaysian. Can't Abolished toll. N Can't fulfilled the BS. Good in Critics but Idiot as Govt.
The only reason is to sell more petrol, sell more car and get more toll collection. Public transport was very efficient with only bus .
To some folks, it's Necessitous and Survival and such remarks surely came from stupid dap!
👆🏻🤷♀️
Agree with the sentiments. But serving the people should be a necessity as well. Too bad our ruling party failed the transportation system for years. Taxi haggling with no meters, buses that did not go through proper maintenance….
You know this phrase is not suitable when there is no alternative to driving.
How about breathing ? Is that a luxury too ?
