Driver in ‘basikal lajak’ case files appeal against High Court decision

Sam Ke Ting has filed an appeal against the Johor Baru High Court’s decision to sentence her to six years’ jail and fine her RM6,000 for reckless driving which resulted in the death of eight teenagers on modified bicycles five years ago. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, April 14, 2022.

THE woman driver who was found guilty of reckless driving which resulted in the death of eight teenagers on modified bicycles or “basikal lajak” five years ago, today filed an appeal against the High Court’s decision. Lawyer Muhammad Faizal Mokhtar, representing Sam Ke Ting, 27, said the notice of motion for leave to appeal and to stay the execution of the sentence and fine imposed on his client as well as the certificate of urgency were filed via the court’s e-filing system.
