PETALING JAYA: The Kelana Jaya Light Rail Train (LRT) Line will undergo more tests on Saturday night (Nov 12) to ensure that it can be reopened to passengers earlier than Tuesday (Nov 15).

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the Rapid Rail technical team, with assistance from the original equipment manufacturer Thales Group teams from Canada and Singapore, had been working round the clock to bring the Kelana Jaya Line system to full stability.

“So far, all critical safety systems are stable according to the test data obtained from running 38 train sets on the line spanning Putra Heights to Gombak throughout today. “The signalling and communications systems are being further tested tonight and evaluated to really ensure that the Kelana Jaya LRT Line will be ready to safely operate much earlier than November 15 as previously announced,” said Dr Wee in a Facebook post on Saturday .

A total of 16 stations along the Kelana Jaya LRT Line have been closed with operations suspended from Nov 9 until 15, after a malfunction in the LRT automatic train control system. The LRT stations affected are Kelana Jaya, Taman Bahagia, Taman Paramount, Asia Jaya, Taman Jaya, Universiti, Kerinchi, Bangsar, Abdullah Hukum, KL Sentral, Pasar Seni, Masjid Jamek, Dang Wangi, Kampung Baru, KLCC and Ampang Park.
