Dr Mahathir says legal team turned away from attending Batu Puteh RCI, slams closed-door proceedings

“When my legal representatives found out about the RCI happening today, they tried to attend so we could bring forth some of our objections and requests. However, all of it was turned down and the proceedings then took place behind closed doors. However, in 2018, Dr Mahathir’s administration withdrew the application. The Pakatan Harapan government, led by Dr Mahathir, withdrew the application to overturn the ICJ’s ruling before the case was scheduled to be heard on June 11, 2018.Dr Mahathir then clarified that Malaysia and Singapore had earlier agreed in writing not to file any pleas, making the ICJ’s ruling final.
