PETALING JAYA: Perdana Menteri Dr Mahathir Mohamad hari ini mengkritik penangkapan seorang pengguna media sosial, dipercayai kerana kata-kata yang ditujukan terhadap Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Idris Sultan Ibrahim.
Menegaskan tidak ada mana-mana pemimpin yang bebas dari kritikan, Mahathir mengingatkan kebebasan bersuara penting dalam sesebuah demokrasi, dan rakyat bebas untuk mengkritik pemimpin jika perlu. “Kecuali ugutan, fitnah, atau penghinaan terhadap raja-raja yang memerintah, mana-mana pemimpin boleh dikritik tanpa mengakibatkan terjejasnya hak rakyat untuk bersuara,” katanya di Twitter.
Semalam, Firdaus Abdillah Hamzah atau @pipiyapong, yang mengusahakan laman web Neon Berapi, dikatakan ditahan polis di Balai Polis Tampoi, Johor.Ketua Polis Johor, Mohd Khalil Kader ketika dihubungi FMT berkata pihaknya akan mengeluarkan kenyataan media menerangkan perkara itu.Sementara itu, Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Idris Sultan Ibrahim di Twitter berkata Istana Johor tidak membuat sebarang laporan polis.
“Jikalau ada laporan, ia kemungkinan dari pihak lain. Ini tiada kaitan dengan kami, dan tolonglah, pada bulan yang mulia ini, saya sekeluarga ingin menjalankan tugas kami bersama rakyat dan beribadah,” katanya.
