The Prime Minister said the decision does not mean that foreigners who bought the property would be given Malaysian citizenship.
"But if foreigners bought the property, we will not give them Malaysian citizenship. They can only use it as their holiday home, ” Dr Mahathir, who is also Langkawi MP, told a press conference after attending a briefing on Langkawi’s development here on Sunday . In another development, Dr Mahathir said the government had no plans to give an immediate response to the report claiming that India planned to ban palm oil imports from Malaysia.
Dr Mahatir said Malaysia and India must avoid making the issue a cause for a trade war, which would only spell losses to both countries.
Jeez got out a long time ago. Land of corruption. Someone always trying to cheat you.
Susah nak pegang cakap dia ni. Kat Sabah time pm4 dulu pun, ada projek IC
Government assumes foreigners are stupid to buy unsold stocks while property developers continue to launch new projects. Foreigners can buy those new launches and those in good locations and good demand! What PH should do is review approvals for new projects! Too many projects!
Even those at Forest City; they were never promised citizenship, yet PH made a big deal out of it & spooked d rkyat.
still alive
In trying to sell these high end properties, to foreigners, ... If no 'long term residency' is considered, then our effort would be futile. Fix a bench mark, eg For property rm 800 k & above, PR would be given. Would U buy, if you couldn't stay long..? PR is not Citizen.
But will give to those create controversial/threats the countries peace..
What about this ?
Yes, slowly they will buy the whole area. Then it will slowly become sort of 'their country'.
they totally would, not even gon lie
What about long term residency...? Very few foreigner would want to buy these properties, if they cannot stay longer.... So it comes to square as in the beginning, the glut still remain. Are we good in trading....? We can fix a benchmark, where PR would b given.
