Perak’s Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, who is the royal patron and chairman of the Merdeka Award Trust , presented the awards to the recipients from six different categories during a ceremony at a hotel here on Friday .
The inaugural recipient of the Anugerah Harapan Merdeka award was Samuel Isaiah for his contribution and commitment towards improving and uplifting the standard of education among Orang Asli children, alongside coaching teachers to elevate the overall quality of education for all. “Yet, they retain their strong sense of mission while retaining resolute, determined and driven,” he said.
“I emphasise that these goals are not the responsibility of leaders, specific individuals or organisations alone. PETRONAS president, group chief executive officer and MAT board member Datuk Tengku Muhammad Taufik said recipients of the award have inspired and continued to inspire those in their fields and across generations.
