KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's challenge in the Malaysian Open ended when men's doubles pairs Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani crashed out in the semi-finals today (July 2).

Aaron-Wooi Yik went down 21-23, 9-21 to Japan's reigning world champions Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil. In the men's singles, Denmark's Viktor Axelsen reached his third consecutive final after overcoming Indonesia's Jonatan Christie 21-15, 20-22, 21-11. The mixed doubles final will be a blockbuster affair featuring China's world No. 1 Zheng Siwei-Huang Yaqiong and Thailand's world No. 2 Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai.Men’s singles: Viktor Axelsen bt Jonatan Christie 21-15, 20-22, 21-11; Kento Momota bt Kunlavut Vitidsarn 21-11, 21-12.
