He was responding to incidents where people wearing sleeveless vests, shorts, T-shirts and skirts were allegedly turned away at vaccination centres in Negri Sembilan, Penang and Johor.
"There are existing laws that deal with what is legally decent and that is enough. So what is wrong with wearing sleeveless shirts, T-shirts, skirts or jeans, as long as it is not indecent? In a statement on Sunday , he said there was a growing number of"moral police" who discriminate against people's right to dress comfortably.He said it was"ridiculous to deny such a person the right to be vaccinated just because the 'moral police' think he or she should wear clothing that fits their policy."
He said the government's campaign to encourage Malaysians to register and get vaccinated would be futile if the government or some"Little Napoleon" makes policies, which will inconvenience people based on their clothing.
