Don’t fear events held at non-Muslim houses of worship, urges Mujahid

Minister in charge of religious affairs Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa says the breaking-of-fast event organised by the Johor Baru MP at a Sikh temple earlier this week was held in a hall, and not an area where worship takes place. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, June 1, 2019.

MUSLIMS are urged not to fear events held at other religions’ houses of worship as they do not go against Islamic teachings, said Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa. The minister in charge of religious affairs said the breaking-of-fast event organised by Johor Baru MP Akmal Nasir at a Sikh temple on Tuesday should not be turned into an issue, as the programme’s aim was to strengthen ties between the different races and religions.

It’s abt the place which is in appropriate. It can always be done in a mosque or neutral place. All that needs to be done in Islam must confirm with the Quran, Hadith, Ijma’ or Qiyas. It cannot be solely based on logical thinking. If one don’t understand, refer to Muftis.

I really don’t see any issue with this! In fact such should be celebrated for having such harmonious diversity!

The Sultan himself attends ceremonies in a Indian temple. But chides a MP for buka puasa in a temple. Your Highness, the followers are now confused!

saifuddinabd The idea is to gather as many election vote as possible to remain as ministers..enjoying the perks and limelight
