PEMBERIAN diskaun bil elektrik yang sebelum ini diumum bagi tempoh April hingga September 2020 dilanjutkan sehingga 31 Disember 2020 bagi semua pengguna domestik di Semenanjung Malaysia, Sabah dan Sarawak.

"Pelanjutan ini turut terpakai bagi pengguna elektrik dengan penggunaan di antara 601 hingga 900kWj yang mula mendapat diskaun 10 peratus di bawah Bantuan Prihatin Elektrik (BPE) yang diumumkan kerajaan pada 20 Jun," menurutnya dalam satu kenyataan di Kuala Lumpur, hari ini.

Beliau berkata, pengguna domestik di Sabah dan Sarawak pula akan terus menerima diskaun bil elektrik sebanyak dua peratus sehingga 31 Disember 2020 yang akan memanfaatkan kira-kira 520,000 orang di Sabah dan 580,000 orang di Sarawak.Sebelum ini, kerajaan mengumumkan diskaun bil elektrik bermula April 2020 hingga September 2020 membabitkan semua pengguna di seluruh negara dalam usaha membantu meringankan beban rakyat yang terkesan dengan penularan pandemik Covid-19.

Selasa lalu, Suruhanjaya Tenaga memaklumkan bahawa pengguna bukan domestik akan menikmati penurunan surcaj sebanyak 2 sen/kWj bagi tempoh 1 Julai hingga 31 Disember 2020 manakala pengguna elektrik domestik kekal membayar kadar tarif sedia ada.Sementara itu, Shamsul Anuar berkata, pelanjutan diskaun selama tiga bulan bagi pengguna di Semenanjung akan dibiayai menggunakan dana Kumpulan Wang Industri Elektrik (KWIE) dengan anggaran sebanyak RM392 juta.

Beliau berkata, diskaun bagi Sabah dan Sarawak pula akan dibiayai oleh Kementerian Kewangan dengan anggaran peruntukan sebanyak RM6 juta."Ini menjadikan kos keseluruhan pemberian diskaun bil elektrik dari April hingga Disember 2020 adalah berjumlah RM2.62 bilion," katanya.
