The number of people who speak Hokkien has dwindled with the increasing use of Bahasa Malaysia, English and Mandarin.

However, the number of people who speak the dialect here has dwindled, with increasing use of Bahasa Malaysia, English and Mandarin.

The forum was organised by the Penang Heritage Department and the state exco for tourism and creative economy. "The dialect has been used in Penang for over 300 years, but it is slowly dying out as the younger generation has grown up without learning it.
