PETALING JAYA: Malaysia must consider the socioeconomic needs of the people, now that the country has flattened the Covid-19 curve, says Health director-general, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah .
“Now we are in the next phase, which is to manage the virus in our community, ” he said in his daily press briefing in Putrajaya yesterday.“We sat down with every sector and we advised them in coming up with the SOP, which is very clear. If they do not comply, then we will close the locality or even the premises.
When asked whether the SOP for economic sectors released were on the advice of the Health Ministry, Dr Noor Hisham said it was a collective decision to ease the MCO. However, he added that matters pertaining to undocumented migrants fell under the purview of the Home Ministry.

Mhmm... only time would tell.
Surely DGHisham you don't honestly believe Malaysia is the first country that won the Covid war outside China. Seriously you know you are celebrating prematurely. Is it your decision to ease MCO so suddenly, or POLITICAL pressure ? But you will be blamed when things turn sour
MuhyiddinYassin This is hardly the “soft landing” approach responsible and concerned citizens like us are expecting. Let’s hope it doesn’t turn out to be a “crash landing” instead.
Even already during Phase 1,2 and 3 so many people are violating, including politicians. Wouldn’t it be wishful thinking that people will bother with SOP this time around?
I hope we are not being too hasty . I fear another wave of Covid -19.
Can we have a mechanism to report for correction? Are MPs trained to help constituents comply? We should shut down those who do not comply after correction.
'a collective decision to ease the MCO' - I really wonder who actually had the biggest chunk of the decision - KKMPutrajaya DGHisham or MuhyiddinYassin and Co
DG, you're main responsibility is our health system. Not ECONOMY. That's not your forte. What is happening to your advise all this while on soft landing. Do you think Rakyat is ready now. I hope you guys are making the right decision. GBY
When you start releasing crowds into the streets and trains and restaurants .. hmm 🤔 SOP. Let’s see how it all works out on Monday rush hour.
I'm sorry but who's gonna check if they follow the SOP or not? 😒😒
not a soft landing mr DG DGHisham
Balancing between public health and the economy is important but this is definitely not a soft landing as we have originally thought. In fact, the loosening measures are more like crash landing with people rushing to work on Monday for the fear of losing their job if they don’t.
