LETTER | Protest against high-rise apartment being built next door due to various problems ignored by DBKL, developer.

| On Oct 26, 2018, residents of Desa Putra Condo and its surrounding neighbours were called to DBKL for a protest hearing. The protest was raised by residents against a 43-storey serviced apartment to be built adjacent to Desa Putra Condo on a mere 1.7 acres of land.

The fact that the executive director has been serving DBKL for more years than I’ve been alive should have reassured me that all would be in order. But this has proven not to be the case. Fourteen working days went by, followed by a year of silence. The fact that residents were not given access to the TIA shows that the arrogance of DBKL continues to live on in the era of Malaysia Baru. Hubris isn’t confined to just DBKL – the showroom for the development was ready way before the development order was passed.

Taxation without representation is one thing, but taxation without any sense of accountability to the taxpayers is a step too far.

Our govt favors developers; there’s where $ is - rakyat’s concerns takde $. We need to seriously push for new politics that is rakyat-centric and prihatin. Same old same old politics and governance ain’t getting rakyat and our beloved nation forward.

What will be your next course of action niknazmi KhalidSamad ybz99 this is ridiculous. Horrendous traffic. Even if you leave the place before 730 still need one hour to reach Jalan Tun Razak! (On early sunday morning only 9 min drive!!!). LRT? After 4 trains only then u board

DPC is one of the earlier condo. The ones that people were crazy enough to build is Hamilton (terrain as in the pic) and wangsa 9, an utterly expensive condo but failed to sell.

Madness. And there are few more condos will be built within the same radius. Cars already parked illegally. I stay in one of the condos. Wangsa 9 shouldn't be built in the first place as it was a reserve area. Then wangsawalk dont have underground parking. What planning is this?

Of course it will fall on deaf ears!! Khalid Samad is busy milking Cash out from Developers & Tauke Mafia! 😡Mana ada masa? You want masa, wait when it’s election time, then Politicians & Khalid Samad will promise you the moon, the star & the whole Universe! KhalidSamad

People also protested when they wanted to build Desa Putra Condo, but the buyers ignored the protest.
