: The Kuala Lumpur City Hall will intensify monitoring and tighten regulations at construction sites in the capital to ensure public safety, said Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan.“For construction sites under DBKL, we can assist the related agencies to monitor and tighten regulations at all the sites,” he told Bernama, today.

Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa had previously reportedly asked DBKL and related agencies to review the regulations at construction sites to tighten security aspects involving the public. Nor Hisham, however, said highway construction in Kuala Lumpur does not require planning permission from DBKL, instead the responsibility falls under the Malaysian Highway Authority.

This follows the incident of a concrete parapet wall slab from the ongoing construction work at the Sungai Besi-Ulu Klang Elevated Expressway falling on a moving car along the Middle Ring Road 2 , causing a 25-year-old woman to suffer injuries to her hand, on Saturday. -
