PUTRAJAYA: A further 178 people have died due to Covid-19, the Health Ministry reported on Thursday (Aug 19).

In his daily Covid-19 statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor reported 65 fatalities, the most among all the states.

Other states reporting death cases are Johor , Kuala Lumpur , Sabah , Penang , Pahang , Melaka , Kelantan , Negri Sembilan Sarawak , Terengganu , Kedah and Perak .Since the pandemic began, 13,480 people have died from Covid-19 in Malaysia.On Thursday, Malaysia reported 22,948 cases of Covid-19 – a new daily record.Of that number, 1,060 are under intensive care with 528 on ventilator support.Of those, 23 are workplace clusters, which have produced 972 confirmed Covid-19 cases.
