MELAKA: Two primary schools here have been ordered to close after several teachers and pupils tested positive for Covid-19.

Melaka health and anti-drug committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman said a total of 10 cases were detected at these two schools – SK Jeram and SK PKLN Balak.

"These schools have been ordered to close from April 5-7 and April 5-9 respectively," he said on Tuesday . Rahmad said two Covid-19 cases were also detected among Kolej Universiti Islam Melaka but the college would be allowed to continue and health authorities will monitor the situation. He also said 25 individuals tested positive from the Jalan Kenanga cluster, which is linked to a housewife from Taman Paya Rumput, Masjid Tanah here.He said the source of infection originated from a religious gathering held at a fishing village on March 27.He said the cluster started when Covid-19 was detected on a 13-year-old tahfiz student on March 19.
