PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded six new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday (July 7), bringing the total number of infections to 8,674.

Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said out of the six new cases, four were imported cases who were all Malaysians infected abroad.

The remaining two new cases were locally transmitted and involved two Malaysians, in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor respectively, he said in a statement. He added that the country saw no new cases involving foreigners on Tuesday and no Covid-19 deaths, keeping the death toll at 121, or 1.39% out of the overall number of cases.

He also said five patients had recovered on Tuesday with a total of 8,481 patients discharged, or 97.8% out of the overall number of cases since the Covid-19 outbreak began.At present, two patients are being treated at the intensive care units , with both of them on ventilator support.
