Jurucakap Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia berkata, arahan penutupan itu membabitkan sekolah rendah dan menengah, Institusi Pendidikan Guru, Kolej Matrikulasi serta sekolah swasta yang berdaftar dengan KPM.
Beliau berkata, sekolah serta institusi pendidikan yang mempunyai asrama juga ditutup dan ibu bapa atau penjaga perlu mengambil murid atau pelajar yang tinggal di asrama itu hari ini. "Bagaimanapun, murid atau pelajar yang menunggu untuk diambil ibu bapa atau murid yang ingin terus kekal berada di asrama sekolah atau institusi pendidikan sepanjang tempoh penutupan akan berada di bawah penjagaan warden," katanya dalam kenyataan, hari ini.
Bagi pelajar yang perlu menduduki peperiksaan seperti yang dijadualkan sepanjang tempoh penutupan institusi pendidikan, mereka hendaklah mendapatkan surat dari sekolah masing-masing. "Sepanjang tempoh arahan penutupan dilaksanakan, pentadbir semua institusi pendidikan diarah untuk memastikan guru, tenaga pengajar serta murid dan pelajar melaksanakan pengajaran dan pembelajaran di rumah.Katanya lagi, KPM sentiasa memantau situasi di seluruh negara serta sentiaa bekerjasama dengan Majlis Keselamatan Negara dan KKM.
