PETALING JAYA: The Sarawak state-owned television station TVS will be shutting its newsroom down temporarily as one of its presenters has tested positive for Covid-19, said Sarawak Media Group chief executive officer Suhaimi Sulaiman.

He said that the news bulletins will be broadcast from the homes of its presenters as all employees have been directed to work from home.

"The temporary shutdown of the TVS newsroom due to Covid-19 will not break the spirits of our staff. News bulletins and programmes will still be continued but will be done at a safer place," said Suhaimi in a statement on Sunday ."Covid-19 should not be used as an excuse for us not to work. The viewers still want the latest news updates. We must be a creative broadcaster by using the best way to continue to broadcast and think laterally to address problems," he said.

Suhaimi added that the approach used was in line with TVS' mission to deliver content that is fresh, informative and entertaining as well as being a source of inspiration to all.
