SIBU: Sarawak records 276 new Covid-19 cases and one death on Sunday (March 21), says the state Disaster Management Committee.

The committee said the death involved a 66-year old man who was admitted to Sibu Hospital due to shortness of breath, fever and cough.

"An rT-PCR test conducted on the man on March 16 came back positive. His condition worsened and he died on the third day. The case also had comorbidities of kidney failure, high blood pressure and diabetes," the committee said in a statement Sunday.Of the 276 new cases, the committee said 177 were from close contact tracing , 42 from existing clusters , 41 screenings , 13 walk-in with symptoms and three imported cases - one each from Brunei, Pakistan and another Malaysian state.

Sibu recorded the most case with 68 followed by Bintulu , Miri , Julau , Kuching , Meradong , Serian , Betong , Kapit , Sri Aman , Subis , Song , Samarahan , Sarikei , Sebauh and Tanjung Manis .Areas which are Red Zones, recording more than 41 cases in the last 14 days, include Betong, Meradong, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri, Sibu, Julau, Subis, Serian, Song, and Sri Aman while the two Orange Zones were Sarikei and Samarahan.

Yellow Zones include Saratok, Sebauh, Beluru, Asajaya, Pusa, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Lundu, Belaga, Kanowit, Telang Usan, Tanjung Manis, Limbang, Dalat, Selangau, and Mukah. Green Zones, with zero new cases in the last 14 days, are Daro, Simunjan, Lubok Antu, Tebedu, Kabong, Lawas, Matu, Pakan, and Marudi.
