KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,272,121 children aged five to 11 years, or 35.8% of that age group in the country, have received their first dose of vaccine under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids) as of Tuesday (March 22).

2,845,415 adolescents aged 12 to 17 or 91.5% from that age bracket have received both doses of a vaccine, while 2,943,210 or 94.6% have received at least one dose.

For the adult population, a total of 15,530,830 individuals or 66% have received a booster dose, 22,945,101 or 97.5% have been fully vaccinated, and 23,221,040 or 98.7% have received at least one dose of vaccine. On Tuesday, a total of 28,377 doses of vaccine were administered, 5,645 being the first dose, 1,357 the second dose and 21,375 as boosters, bringing the cumulative total vaccine doses dispensed under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme to 68,546,897.

Meanwhile, according to the Health Ministry's GitHub portal, 73 deaths due to Covid-19 were recorded on Tuesday with Perak recording the highest number at 19 cases, followed by Selangor and Johor with 11 cases each. Kedah recorded nine deaths, Penang eight, Kelantan, Melaka, Sabah and Terengganu had three each, while Negri Sembilan, Perlis and Sarawak had one each. – Bernama
