PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded only one new case on Wednesday (July 1), the lowest daily figure since the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic began in the country.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the sole case on Wednesday is an imported case, which means there are no local transmissions on the day.The cumulative number of infections in the country is 8,640.

Dr Noor Hisham also said 21 more cases have been discharged, which means 8,375 patients have recovered from Covid-19 in Malaysia since the outbreak began.There are now only 141 active cases left being treated at health facilities nationwide. Currently, there are four people treated at intensive care units, with two patients requiring ventilator support.

Dr Noor Hisham announced no new deaths, which means the death toll remains at 121 for the 17th day in a row.
