PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia discharged 23,473 Covid-19 patients on Thursday (Sept 2), a new daily record.

It was also the second day in a row that Covid-19 recoveries outnumbered new cases, with 20,988 recorded.In his daily Covid-19 statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 249 deaths were recorded.Selangor reported the most number of death cases with 61 fatalities, followed by Johor with 40 and Penang with 39.

There were a total of 80 cases that were classified as"brought-in-dead", of which 33 were reported in Selangor.Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said out of the 20,988 latest infections, about 98.4% are either mild or asymptomatic cases.Overall, 47% of the cases are those who are unvaccinated while another 23.8% had received only one vaccination dose.

Another 29.2% are those who are fully vaccinated of which the majority are Category 1 and 2 patients.
