Majlis Keselamatan itu hanya meluluskan resolusi pada 1 Julai lalu bagi mendesak supaya menghentikan permusuhan dalam kalangan negara yang terlibat supaya memberi tumpuan utama kepada usaha memerangi pandemik Covid-19.

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia mengkritik Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu yang dilihat lambat bertindak dalam membantu negara-negara anggota dalam menangani krisis pandemik Covid-19.

“Ini adalah langkah positif, namun kita hanya boleh bayangkan manfaat tindakan itu sekiranya ia diambil lebih awal,” katanya dalam rakaman video dan disiarkan dalam laman web TV United Nations malam tadi. Beliau menjelaskan, setiap negara tidak boleh mengabaikan fakta bahawa kumpulan pengganas dapat meningkatkan usaha mereka untuk mengambil peluang daripada keadaan tidak menentu ketika ini bagi memperluas agenda mereka.

Jelas beliau, hal itu membuktikan organisasi dunia berkenaan perlu direformasikan dan sudah tiba masanya komposisi Majlis Keselamatan mengambil kira keanggotaan semasa PBB.
