PETALING JAYA: There has been a downward trend in most major Covid-19 indicators compared with last week, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

“Compared with the previous week, there is a drop of 13.1% in new Covid-19 cases. The average number of cases has reduced by 7% from 70,829 cases to 65,573, and the decline in the number of active cases has been consistent over the nine weeks,” said the Health director-general.

“The number of deaths has reduced by 27.2% and the cases requiring respiratory assistance did not show a significant change and remained at 214 cases. Dr Noor Hisham also urged school authorities to pay attention to the safety and health of students and the school’s environment to prevent any Covid-19 outbreaks.

“Everyone including school authorities, parents, school bus drivers, students and those who are involved in school reopening activities, must do their part in following the standard operating procedures to prevent education clusters from emerging,” he added.
