PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,783 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday (July 31), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 4,680,053 since the pandemic began.

The Health Ministry's CovidNow portal reported that 2,780 of Sunday's new Covid-19 cases were locally transmitted while there were three imported infections.

Recoveries outpaced new Covid-19 cases, with 4,482 individuals recovering from their infections on Sunday. Some 3.3% of Sunday's active cases, or 1,477 Covid-19 patients, are being treated at hospitals, with 54 warded in intensive care units .Malaysia's current overal ICU utilisation rate stands at 64.1%, with Covid-19 patients accounting for 14.5% of the utilisation rate on Sunday.
