PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 11,994 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday (April 7), bringing the cumulative total number of infections in the country to 4,292,585 cases since the pandemic began.

The Health Ministry's CovidNow portal reported that 11,969 of Thursday's new Covid-19 cases were local transmissions while 25 were imported infections.

Recoveries continued to outpace daily infections with 16,603 individuals recovering from Covid-19 infections on Thursday. A total of 341 people, or 0.2% of active cases are currently seeking treatment at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres. The Health Ministry's GitHub data repository also reported that 36 Covid-19 deaths were reported on Thursday, with nine classified as brought-in-dead .
