TAWAU (Bernama): All those who were involved in a football competition at the Tawau Prison field and Tawau Municipal Council (MPT) Stadium recently, including spectators, should go for a Covid-19 test immediately.

Tawau district health officer, Dr G. Navindran said as of Sunday , about 100 people had turned up for a Covid-19 test at the Tawau Health Clinic in Kubota here after being instructed to do so the day before.

"The tests have been conducted since 8am and the centre is open until 5pm for individuals involved in the football matches to do the Covid-19 screening," he said. On Saturday , the Tawau district health office issued a notice requesting all players, spectators and others involved in the nine-a-side football competition on Aug 28,29 and Sept 2 at the Tawau Prison field and Aug 30 and 31 at the MPT Stadium here to take a Covid-19 test.The call to undergo the test was made after one of the referees, who is also a Tawau Prison officer, was found positive for Covid-19 on Saturday.
