GEORGE TOWN: In light of the rising cases of Covid-19 cases in the state, the state Health Department has asked the public to be prepared for any eventuality.

State health director Datuk Dr Asmayani Khalib said the Health Ministry is always checking on the preparedness of the state health authorities, as cases soar in the last two weeks.Dr Asmayani was responding to viral messages that certain departments in Penang Hospital have been closed temporarily to make way for the increasing admission of Covid-19 patients in the state.

She said the move is temporary and part of the state Health Department's strategy to cope with the increased number of Covid-19 patients. She added that the country is still at war against Covid-19, and the health frontliners do not want to get caught unprepared in the battle.
