PETALING JAYA: Fourteen people died from Covid-19 on Friday (July 22), including three who were brought in dead, says the Health Ministry.

The latest number is part of the increasing trend of deaths from the coronavirus over the past two weeks.In the past 14 days, there’s been a 34% increase in the trend of fatalities, according to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow portal.A check on the Health Ministry's GitHub data repository also showed that the number of deaths steadily rose throughout the past week since last Saturday .

There were four deaths reported on July 16, followed by seven fatalities on July 17 and 18 respectively. Eight deaths were reported respectively on July 19 and 20, with the figure spiking to 10 on July 21 . With the latest fatalities, the total number of deaths in the country from Covid-19 since the pandemic started is now 35,902.

As of Friday, some 2,607 Covid-19 patients recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries in Malaysia to 4,559,545.
