Malaysia recorded 1,971 new Covid19 cases on Saturday (Sept 10), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 4,803,624 since the pandemic began. Read more at

The Health Ministry's CovidNow portal reported that 1,964 of Saturday's new Covid-19 infections were local transmissions while there were seven imported cases.

Recoveries outpaced new cases on Saturday, with 2,389 individuals recovering from Covid-19 infections. The CovidNow portal also reported that there are currently 26,949 active Covid-19 cases in the country, with 25,648 individuals, or 95.2% of active infections, observing home quarantine and eight receiving treatment at quarantine and treatment centres nationwide.

A total of 1,224 Covid-19 patients, or 4.5% of Saturday's active cases, are seeking treatment in hospitals with 69, or 0.3%, warded in intensive care units .The CovidNow portal also reported that Malaysia's overall ICU utilisation rate stood at 58% as of 11.59pm Saturday. There were three deaths due to Covid-19 detected on Saturday, bringing the total number of fatalities due to Covid-19 to 36,277 since the pandemic began.
