“Action should be taken against motorists who leave their vehicles at non-designated parking areas,' the JB mayor said.

Mayor Datuk Noorazam Osman said that since the border between Malaysia and Singapore opened on April 1, there had been a spike in the number of vehicles entering Johor Baru city area.

“Action should be taken against motorists who leave their vehicles at non-designated parking areas as they give the city a bad image,” he said at an MBJB full board meeting. He said as a short-term solution, the council was discussing with private parties about using undeveloped land as temporary parking lots.

“MBJB is planning to provide electric shuttle bus service in and around the outskirts of the city to make it easier for people to come into Johor Baru without using their own vehicles,” he said, adding that the service would help ease congestion and curb illegal parking.
