PORT DICKSON: The police have dismissed claims that a teacher here died after getting the Covid-19 vaccine.

District police chief Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed said a viral message on April 2 claiming the 54-year-old woman died because of the injection is fake.

"Preliminary medical tests conducted at the hospital here showed that the teacher had been suffering from chronic illnesses such as diabetes, heart-related ailments and hypertension for the past year," he said "She had fits at around 10.30pm on April 1 and was rushed to hospital for treatment but died the following afternoon," added Supt Aidi Sham in a statement on Monday .Supt Aidi Sham advised the public not to circulate unsubstantiated claims or make statements on social media that could confuse the public.

He said stern action will be taken under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988 which provides a fine of not more than RM50,000, a jail term not exceeding one year or both upon conviction.
