Cops to monitor 17 accident-prone 'black spots' in Perak

IPOH: Some 17 accident-prone “black spots" in Perak have been identified by police, says Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid .

The Perak police chief said these are deadly accident-prone areas that the police would keep an eye on during Ops Selamat 18, which will be held from April 29 to May 8, to minimise road accidents.Comm Mior Faridalathrash said these included five locations in Manjung, four in Taiping, four in Muallim and Gerik and two in Hilir Perak.

He said there have been suggestions for the operation to be called off and all relevant agencies would meet to come up with the right decision."If we can provide explanations properly, I feel they will understand that we have been trying hard to locate the victims. "We will try to complete our investigations as soon as possible so that the families can be issued the victims' death certificates," he added.

On March 8, two men, Kheow Loo Siew Soon, 49, and Itam Lasoh, 43, were buried under debris after a rockfall at the quarry.
