The chairman of the disaster management committee says permits given by district offices must also be approved by police from tomorrow. FMTNews Sarawak

Sarawak disaster management committee chairman Douglas Uggah Embas says there are 211 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the state.

On Sunday, it was reported that Sarawak had imposed a ban on inter-district travel, and those with valid reasons to travel must obtain permits from the district office. At a press conference here today, Uggah also said Sarawak had recorded one more death, involving a man from Kuching, bringing the total of Covid-19 deaths in the state to nine.

Uggah said there was 95.3% compliance by Sarawakians to the restrictions under the national movement control order .

More red tape= more people running around between district offices and police to get travel approvals. Sounds like a classic scenario for spreading covid-19 infections. The law of unintended consequences works best when nobody pays attention to details.
