A police spokesman said the victim's mother lodged a report after her daughter told her of the incident that allegedly took place at a shop where the mother worked in Nilai 3 near here.
“The victim told her mother that she had been experiencing pains in her private parts and what the suspect did to her earlier in the day, ” he said, adding that the incident happened on Oct 9. The spokesman said both the victim's parents worked at the shop that sold curtains, while the suspect was employed in the neighbouring unit.“We have reason to believe that he has absconded, ” he said, adding that the victim's mother was an Indonesian married to a local.“She said the suspect would always come over to the shop where she worked to play with her daughter.
“She never expected that he would do this to the little girl, ” he said, adding that the mother could not say for certain if this was the first time the suspect had assaulted her daughter. The case is being probed under section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 that carries a jail sentence of not more than 20 years and a fine upon conviction.
