KUALA LUMPUR: Police have closed and will monitor the locations targeted by the black shirt protest group, which has called on the people to gather at a few locations in the city on Wednesday (June 30).

As of noon on Wednesday, Dang Wangi police have closed all roads leading to Dataran Merdeka and are monitoring areas around the Employees Provident Fund building at Jalan Raja Laut and Jalan Raja Chulan here.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said as of noon, no suspicious movement in connection with the gathering has been detected."We will not hesitate to take action against any party that infringes regulations and fails to adhere to Covid-19 standard operating procedures during Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan," he said when contacted.

Dang Wangi police also set up roadblocks at several locations leading to the central part of the city, especially to locations targeted by the group, he added.also found police roadblocks at Jalan Kuching and Jalan Bangsar, in front of the National Museum. The black shirt group targeted several locations such as Istana Negara and state palaces nationwide as well as the EPF headquarters and state branches, Dataran Merdeka, Dataran Putra in calling for the people to gather and protest the government's handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The group also called on the people to take videos and photos of themselves and to honk their vehicle horns while gathering on Wednesday.
