BATU PAHAT: A live band session at a restaurant here came to an abrupt end when police showed up and raided the premises for flouting the movement control order.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said the premises, located in the district’s town area, was raided at 9.50pm Saturday and 94 people were found crammed inside the outlet.“Aside from failing to ensure physical distancing, we also found that the premises, which only has a food and beverage licence, was conducting entertainment activities without a valid licence, ” he said.

He said all customers, staff and members of the live band, aged from 17 to 44, were tested for drugs, and only one was found to be positive. “We arrested 88 of them and they will be remanded for two days until March 1 to aid in investigations, ” he said, adding that police also seized entertainment systems including amplifiers, speakers, microphones, drums, television and laptops.“The public and business owners should continue adhering to the SOPs outlined by the government, ” said ACP Ismail.
