IPOH: The ongoing construction at the iconic Ipoh Padang will not affect the condition of the field, says Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohd Radzi.

“The state government is aware of the historical aspect of the iconic field. On Tuesday , a few environmentalist groups had expressed their worries over the ongoing construction work that started since Sept 16.

Nolee Ashilin said the construction work involves upgrading of the public toilet, the pavilion and landscape."The project is part of the state's initiative to boost tourism," she said, adding that the project is expected to be completed by January next year. "On behalf of the state government, we would like to apologise for the lack of engagement between the state and the members of the public. It was reported in June last year that the state plans to brighten the field with a"light and sound show" as part of its efforts to attract tourists.
