KUALA LUMPUR: A random police check in Jinjang, which became the subject of a viral complaint, was a routine part of crime prevention efforts, says Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai .

"The individual was dissatisfied over being randomly checked by five policemen beside a restaurant in Jinjang."Police from the Jinjang police station were conducting crime prevention patrols when they saw four men at the side of the road," he said in a statement on Sunday , adding that the complaint was unwarranted."After introducing themselves, the policemen asked for their MyKad to check if they had any criminal records.
