JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) has detained a company director for allegedly submitting false documents to a ministry in Putrajaya.

The case involved the claiming of a refund for pure palm cooking oil subsidy amounting to more than RM25,000.

The 47-year-old woman was detained at 2pm on Wednesday when giving her statement at the MACC office here. The suspect is said to have submitted false invoices using another company’s name to the ministry in her claim for the refund for the whole of 2019. Meanwhile, Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

The suspect will be brought to the Johor Baru Magistrate's Court on Thursday for the application of a remand on her for the purpose of investigation.
