Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said that the state government would also present RM6,000 to cyclist Mohd Shah Firdaus Sahrom for winning the bronze medal during the Commonwealth Games."As a show of appreciation, the state government will reward RM10,000 to Aniq Kasdan and RM6,000 to Shah Firdaus for their achievements in making the country and state proud," he said on Facebook.
He said that Aniq Kasdan managed to bag the gold medal in the men's 55kg category while Shah Firdaus managed to get a bronze medal in the men's keirin final during the Commonwealth Games. "This victory is hoped to also boost the spirit of other young athletes in Johor to bring up the name of the country and state in the international stage," he said.
Earlier, Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar congratulated Mohamad Aniq Kasdan for winning the first gold medal for the national contingent at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games on Saturday .
