He was asked to comment on an issue raised by Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Rantau by-election Dr S. Streram. Dr Streram had asked Mohamad - the Barisan Nasional candidate - to explain how he was able to purchase the luxury apartment 11 years ago when he was the Negri Sembilan mentri besar. He also asked Mohamad to explain a viral video which alleged that the former MB owned a bungalow in Seremban.
On Mohamad's remark, Saifuddin said that Dr Streram was merely asking Mohamad to explain and did not accuse him. "The onus is on Mohamad to come clean," he said after opening a campus food aid programme at Universiti Malaya here Tuesday . Meanwhile, Saifuddin said he was optimistic that Pakatan had a chance in the Rantau by-election despite being seen as an ''underdog''.
