PETALING JAYA: Women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah may have ended their Sudirman Cup campaign without a win but in the eyes of their coach Chan Chong Ming, they are still winners.

Chong Ming was beaming with pride with their performance despite the world No. 19 pair not having the best of preparations leading to the tournament.

In the quarter-finals against Indonesia, they fought valiantly for an hour and 31 minutes before losing 20-22, 21-17, 18-21 to Olympics gold medallists Greysia Polii-Apriyani Rahayu. “The girls performed extremely well considering the difficulties they have been through in the last couple of months, especially Pearly,” said Chong Ming.

“It sidelined her for more than a month. It wasn’t until late August that we had her back to restart some light training.
