Two men connected to the 1MDB scandal have been convicted and sentenced to jail in Abu Dhabi over financial crimes. reported that this is according to a statement from the emirate’s criminal court and people familiar with the matter.
“The press release didn’t identify the men by name, but people familiar with the judicial actions confirmed the unnamed defendants were Al Qubaisi and Al Husseiny. The court statement noted that the investigations were part of a broader investigation in Abu Dhabi into allegations of corruption. He said he had steered IPIC to become a key business partner of 1MDB with the full knowledge of senior UAE officials.
